The Vaccination Choice Hand-delivered Letter Campaign
We want our legislators to hear us loud and clear – we want vaccination choice in New Jersey!
Please take time to write your legislators. You can look them up on www.congress.org – type in your zip code on the left, press ok, then in the center look for your legislators under “Governor & State Legislators”.
Make the letter personal by adding the details of your own story – and emphasize that we need vaccination choice. This is America, land of the free, and we live in a democracy - our voices count. Be courteous, be respectful. Let your assemblypeople know that you want them to vote YES on A260. Let your senator know that you want them to vote YES on S1071.
Print copies for each legislator on your finest paper. If you have a picture you want to include, feel free – pictures say 1000 words, and giving a face to the issue makes it real. Bring your letters with you on October 16 to the Trenton rally to hand-deliver to your legislator’s office. If you can’t make it to the rally, get them delivered by someone who is going (we can help you find others in your district who are active on this issue).

Dear [insert name of government person],
I am writing to ask you to support informed consent and vaccination choice in NJ. Please support the bill (A260/S1071) that provides for conscientious exemption (CE) to mandatory immunizations. (add a sentence or two here about why vaccination choice is so important to you. ie: With NJ mandating more vaccinations than any other state, it is important that parents have a choice as to which vaccines their children receive. We do not know how many vaccines are too many.....)
[your story here - My child developed severe asthma, stopped developing normally, etc. after receiving childhood vaccinations, etc. I want my other child to have the right to stop receiving vaccinations once it was determined that they affected her sibling so dramatically. Having a CE available will help parents like me to protect my children from further vaccine injury. Having a CE available will help parents who choose not to vaccinate for typically non-deadly diseases, like flu and chicken pox. I want my child to receive most vaccinations, however, I want to be able to spead them out and I do not feel that my child needs the hepatitis. b vaccine or the flu vaccine right now. Currently children have to receive all mandatory vaccines, or file a religious exemption which exempts them from ALL vaccines.] Parents deserve the right to be able to have a say in the medical procedures their children recived. NJ needs a conscientious exemption like 19 other states already have.
I would appreciate the chance to discuss this issue with you in person. Please contact me at x.
Sincerely,
[insert your name and home address (where you pay taxes) and phone]
